Public School Lunches are Finally Getting Some Attention in Washington

This is so overdue.

Bureaucrats are finally starting to debate out loud about the food served in our public school cafeterias.  And Whole Foods is getting involved too!

So how can we make changes at a local level?

First, we must recognize that we can’t wait for our kids to reach school age before they start learning about healthy eating habits. Years before they climb the steps of that first school bus we can be preparing and eating our colors together and keeping processed foods out of our pantries. Most importantly, it’s great to have whole foods part of the family dynamic and dialogue.

Next, as a family see what you can do to support programs like the Farm to School Project (http://farmtoschool.org) which connects schools to local farms in order to introduce fresh produce to our kids during the school day. Many states are already involved!
